Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains clearly what data ReWear collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have. ReWear has no advertising and no tracking, and we do not sell your personal data — ever.
1. About ReWear
ReWear is a mobile application developed and operated by VDK Software, the app studio of Marijn van de Kraats in the Netherlands ("we", "us", "our"). ReWear keeps count of how often you wear each piece of clothing since its last wash, so you know what is clean, what is still wearable and what needs washing.
This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the ReWear mobile application on iOS and Android. VDK Software is the controller of your personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. Data We Collect
We only collect data that is necessary to provide the ReWear experience.
2.1 Account Data
- Email address — used to create and sign in to your account, and to send account emails such as verification codes and password resets.
- Name — the first name you enter at sign-up, shown in your profile.
- Password — stored securely as a hashed value. We never store or have access to your plain-text password.
2.2 Your Closet
- Items — the clothing you add: name, category, "wash after" setting, wash type and temperature, and an optional care note.
- Wear and wash history — the days you logged an item as worn or washed, used for your counters and statistics.
- Photos — pictures of your clothing that you choose to add. They are stored privately and are only visible to you.
2.3 Settings
- Whether reminders are switched on, and your chosen laundry day, time and pile-up number. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device.
2.4 Subscription Data
- Purchase history — if you subscribe to ReWear Premium, whether your subscription is active and its purchase history. Payments are handled entirely by Apple or Google; we never see your card or bank details.
We do not collect your location, contacts, advertising ID or browsing data, and the app contains no advertising or analytics tools.

4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data to any third party. We share data only with the service providers that run the app for us:

5. Data Retention
- Account and closet data — kept as long as your account exists.
- Photos — kept until you remove the photo, delete the item or delete your account.
- Purchase records — may be kept by Apple, Google and RevenueCat for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
When you delete your account, all your data is permanently removed from ReWear straight away.
6. Data Security
- All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
- Passwords are stored as secure hashes.
- Our database uses Row Level Security (RLS), so every user can only access their own data. Photos are kept in a private storage bucket.
While we take every reasonable precaution, no system is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach that affects your rights, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.
7. Children's Privacy
ReWear is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at hello@vdksoftware.com and we will delete it.
8. Your Rights
Under the GDPR you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — correct inaccurate data (most data can be edited directly in the app).
- Right to erasure — delete your account and personal data.
- Right to restriction — request that we limit how we use your data.
- Right to data portability — request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interest.
To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@vdksoftware.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
9. Account Deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time:
- In the app: open the Profile tab, scroll down and tap Delete account, then confirm. Your account, items, photos, wear and wash history and settings are deleted permanently and immediately.
- Without the app: email hello@vdksoftware.com from the address you signed up with and ask us to delete your account. We will do so within 30 days and confirm by email.
Deleting your account does not cancel a ReWear Premium subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
10. International Data Transfers
Some of our service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this happens, appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses are in place.
11. Cookies and Tracking
The ReWear app does not use cookies, advertising identifiers or tracking technologies.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and announce important changes in the app.
